Guidebooks and Maps

The market is loaded with books and maps about walking all the Caminos, but two publications are favored and seem to be in the hands of everyone on the trail: John Brierley's "A Pilgrim's Guide To The Camino de Santiago" and Michelin's "Guide to Camino de Santiago".

As packed with information Brierley's guide book is, as basic and scarce is the Michelin book. I used both on the walk and Brierley's is hands-down the best. It is jam-packed with Camino information collected over many years (now in its 9th edition) and the maps are excellent. It may be a couple of hundred pages bigger than the Michelin guide, but it is still a small and compact guide book and easy to carry.
